Who we are

Daily Holes is operated by Martin Seppälä, trading as Daily Holes, based in Finland. We are the data controller for the personal data described here. You can reach us at dailyholes.com@gmail.com.

What we collect and why

  • Account data — email address, password (stored hashed by our authentication provider), or the basic profile returned by Google or Apple sign-in. Used to create and secure your account. Legal basis: performance of our contract with you.
  • Profile data — display name, avatar and your friend code. Used to show you on leaderboards, in friend lists and in 1v1 challenges. Legal basis: contract performance.
  • Gameplay data — your rounds, hole scores, shot logs, streaks, challenge results and friend links. Used to run the game, verify scores and rank leaderboards. Legal basis: contract performance and our legitimate interest in fair play.
  • Advertising data — cookies and device identifiers set by Google AdSense to serve and measure the ads on this site. We do not receive this data ourselves. Legal basis: consent.
  • Technical and usage data — IP address, device and browser information, error reports and basic usage events. Used for security, fraud and cheat prevention, and to fix problems and improve the game. Legal basis: legitimate interests.
  • Support messages — anything you send us by email. Used to answer you. Legal basis: legitimate interests.

Who we share it with

  • Service providers and subprocessors that host and run the game and its database, authentication and error reporting.
  • Google, which serves the advertising on this site through Google AdSense. See Advertising and cookies below for what that involves and how to opt out.
  • Professional advisers such as accountants or lawyers, where necessary.
  • Authorities, where we are required to disclose data by law.

Your display name, avatar and round scores are visible to other signed-in players on leaderboards and in challenges. Your email address and friend code are never shown to other players.

International transfers

Some of our providers process data outside the EEA and the UK. Where that happens, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as European Commission adequacy decisions or Standard Contractual Clauses.

How long we keep it

We keep account, profile and gameplay data for as long as your account exists. If you ask us to delete your account, we delete or anonymise your personal data, though anonymised scores may remain on historical leaderboards.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to access your data, correct it, have it erased, restrict or object to processing, receive it in a portable format, and withdraw consent where processing is based on consent. Email dailyholes.com@gmail.com and we will respond within one month. You also have the right to complain to your local supervisory authority — in Finland, the Office of the Data Protection Ombudsman.

Security

We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit, access controls and database-level rules that keep each player's private data readable only by them.

Advertising and cookies

We use essential cookies and browser local storage to keep you signed in and to remember your in-progress round and settings. You can clear or block cookies in your browser settings, but the game may not work correctly without the essential ones.

Daily Holes is free to play and is paid for by advertising. The ads on this site are served by Google AdSense, and the following applies to them:

  • Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or to other websites.
  • Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the internet.
  • You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. Alternatively, you can opt out of a third-party vendor's use of cookies for personalised advertising at www.aboutads.info/choices.
  • How Google uses the data it collects from sites that use its services is described at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
  • You can review and change what Google holds about you at myadcenter.google.com.

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, we ask for your consent before advertising cookies are set, and we identify the ad technology providers involved at that point. You can change or withdraw that choice at any time through the privacy settings link shown with the consent message, and we will go on showing you non-personalised ads instead.

We do not receive the advertising data ourselves, and we never pass your email address, password or account details to any advertiser.

Children

Daily Holes is not directed at children under 13. If you believe a child has given us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
